FORMER SAFC striker Michael Chopra has admitted speeding at more than a ton.
He was fined £1,000 after admitting driving his car along the A12 in Essex at 106mph.
The Ipswich Town player, 27, whose address was given as Newcastle, was also banned from driving for 56 days by Chelmsford magistrates.
The offence took place on the A12 at Colchester on September 13.
The court heard how he had a “lapse in concentration” as he was driving back from London to rented accommodation in Suffolk after watching a match.
He was clocked by an officer with a hand-held speed gun and could have been banned under the totting-up procedure, as he already had nine points on his licence.
However, chairman of the bench Patricia Dair told Chopra: “You are being disqualified for speeding, not totting up.”
