A FORMER health and school chief has taken up a post which will see him help lead a housing organisation.

Not-for-profit housing provider Four Housing, which rents out homes across Wearside, has announced the appointment of Bill Worth as its chairman.

He has previously worked as a chief executive of North Durham NHS Trust and has been chairman of governors at Durham Johnston School.

Mr Worth said: “I am fortunate to have the support of a very able board, senior management team and a high calibre of staff.

“However, the difficult economic climate, coupled with reform to the welfare system, presents a challenge to the organisation.

“It is my responsibility to work with the board and senior management team to ensure that this challenge is managed effectively, and that Four Housing continues to innovate, grow and deliver excellent services to all of its customers.”

Paul Tanney, Four Housing’s chief executive, said: “Bill will be a valuable member of the board.

“His career history and deep understanding of our organisation mean he is well placed to lead the organisation forward, helping us to achieve our vision: to be the provider of choice for our customers and our partners.”
