RESIDENTS are being reminded to think of others as winter continues.
Durham County Council is asking people to call on those living nearby to check if they need anything.
They also suggest that people look after the vulnerable by getting in touch with neighbours who are ill, older, or who live on their own and may need a helping hand.
Another suggestion is for people to help keep drives and footpaths clear by shovelling snow for friends and neighbours if they struggle to do it themselves.
The cold weather can significantly increase the risk to those who are already vulnerable.
Council chiefs also say people should check those in need are warm, especially at night, and have food and medicines so they do not need to leave the house.
