VOLUNTEERS have transformed a derelict plot of land into a green allotment.
Workers from Lloyds TSB teamed up with Volunteer Centre Sunderland to make over part of the Burnside allotment in Silksworth.
Staff gave up their time for two days and their employer donated towards the cost of materials.
Charity Groundwork North East also helped renovate the once-derelict plot as part of a programme which has created eight community gardens across the city.
Teams of volunteers from Lloyds TSB Commercial spent two days building fences, raised beds, seating areas and painting at Tunstall allotments.
It is now used to promote increasing exercise and a healthier diet, as well as delivering Groundwork’s green activity programme.
