BEAUTIFUL young Sunderland voices filled the air at Durham Cathedral.

The annual Cathedral Outreach Concert featured children from eight Wearside primary schools performing alongside the Cathedral Boy Choristers.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Sunderland, Councillor Bob Heron and his wife Juliana, joined the parents, friends and family of the young singers and other guests at Durham Cathedral for the performance, which featured a wide range of music from Bach through to folk songs and carols.

Sunderland City Council has been working with Durham Cathedral since 2003 to organise the Outreach Programme through the Sunderland Music Education Hub.

Councillor Pat Smith, portfolio holder for children’s services, said: “This concert was the result of months of hard work by the children, their teachers and their schools, and I hope they all enjoyed it.”
