A GROUP of youngsters learning about the environment got the chance to meet a leading authority on the care of trees.

About 70 arboriculture and horticulture students and apprentices from East Durham College’s Houghall Campus, Durham, attended a presentation given by Nick Eden, director of the Arboricultural Association.

He said: “I was delighted to be invited to Houghall to give the presentation to the students.

“Our aim is to help students throughout their careers so they can better themselves while looking after the environment and society by working to proper standards.”

Nick hosted a quiz based on the arboriculture industry.

The winner was, Andrew Nesbitt, 21, from Houghton, who is studying for an extended diploma in Forestry and Arboriculture.
