A DURHAM college is celebrating clinching top marks.
Latest figures have shown New College Durham as the top performing college in the North East region, and the second top college in the whole of the England.
The accolade is based on figures from the National Success Rate Tables, released last week by the Skills Funding Agency.
The figures compared 221 General Further Education Colleges (GFEC) across England for the academic year 2012/13, and included both achievement and retention rates.
John Widdowson, Principal and Chief Executive of New College Durham, said: “This is a fantastic achievement by all of our staff, teachers and students. It is a great recognition and reward for all of their hard work over the year and sets an even higher standard for this year’s students.”
New College Durham offers a wide range of full and part-time further and higher education courses and for the last five years it has consistently appeared in the top 10 per cent of colleges nationally for performance and success.
