WEARSIDERS are being urged to welcome thousands of new faces to the city.
Next month, the University of Sunderland Students’ Union will welcome 3,500 new students with a huge celebration.
The first week of the new academic year, known as Freshers Week, is designed to help new students settle into the city and make new friends.
This year, a programme of varied activities is planned to get students to discover the places they’ll have on their doorstep.
On Monday, September 15, students will hit the streets of Sunderland throughout the day in search of special offers and bargains as part of the Freshers Festival. The Students’ Union is inviting businesses right across the city to open their doors and offer something special on that one day.
In return, all the special deals will be promoted to students online to encourage them to move around and take advantage of all that is on offer.
A number of organisations, including the bowling alley, have already signed up with special deals for the new students that day.
