Big Science Event

Big Science Event

A WORLD of scientific possibilities will be opened up to Wearside pupils tomorrow.

Sunderland College is holding the Big Science Event to show soon-to-be school leavers the vast range of opportunities available if they decide to pursue a career in science.

The event, aimed at pupils in years 10, 11 and sixth form, will be a chance to observe live experiments as well as to speak to some of science’s biggest names, including the Sunderland University’s Professor John Kilcoyne, famous for appearing on the Sky One series Brainiac.

Educational guidance officer Andrew Calder said: “It is fantastic to be able to host this event again and welcome the region’s leading experts in their field to the city.

“Many of the guest speakers are originally from Sunderland who come back regularly to offer advice, share their experiences and hopefully inspire the next generation of future scientists across the region.”

The event will take place tomorrow, from 4.30pm to 7pm, at the college’s Bede Campus.
