CHILDREN of all ages across Wearside joined in Harvest Festival celebrations.
The youngsters at Busy Bees Nursery in Ryhope invited residents from nearby The Vicarage care home along to join in the fun.
And, Academy 360 in Pennywell had three special harvest festival assemblies for pupils and staff from primary and secondary, along with parents and members of the local community.
Sir Ken Gibson, executive headteacher at Academy 360, said: “We were was delighted to be able to welcome parents and community members into the academy to celebrate harvest festival.
“Many of the pupils, staff and wider community brought in gifts of food which were then distributed to the needy and elderly in the neighbourhood.
“What is special about these assemblies is the number of pupils who willingly volunteer to contribute, either by singing, doing special readings or simply helping out.”
Faye Bradford, acting manager at Busy Bees in Ryhope, said: “We thought it would be nice to invite the residents from The Vicarage along to celebrate with the children.”
The nursery also donated the produce it had collected to the elderly people.
