YOUNGSTERS were in the pink when they raised money for the Breast Cancer Campaign.

Children and staff at Academy 360 took part in Wear Something Pink Day with everyone encouraged to wear one pink item and make a donation of £1 to the charity.

Lisa Richardson, a teacher at the Pennywell academy, said she decided to organise the event after being sent an email and fund-raising pack about it.

She said: “I decided to support the charity as pretty much everyone comes into contact with breast cancer at some point, whether it be ourselves, a family member or a friend who suffers from it.

“I also wanted to show the local community and people in Sunderland what caring students and staff we have at Academy 360, and how we always do our bit to help raise money for charities.”

Lisa said the academy also used the build-up to the event as a way of educating the students about breast cancer and during tutorial lessons the pupils watched videos about the disease.
