SUNDERLAND College has joined forces with a company which needs people on the shop floor.
The college has been called upon by leading stocktaking and inventory company, Retail Grocery Inventory Service, RGIS, to help recruit a team to support a variety of high street retailers including Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Marks and Spencer and Mothercare.
The college will be offering free pre-employment training to help match between 40 and 60 individuals to roles as shop floor inventory workers and those who complete the training will be guaranteed and interview for work.
Paul Stafford, employer liaison manager at Sunderland College, said: “The pre-training course is a great opportunity to give students and those currently seeking work the chance to prepare for a role in retail stocktaking in order to gain valuable experience in a real work environment.”
The six-day course, which started today, will be spread over two weeks at Sunderland College’s Doxford site and Bede Campus.
The training, aimed at adults over 19, will include, understanding business communication and stock control, developing customer service skills, problem-solving at work, time management and improving your own performance.
Roles will start in January and will require weekend and out of retail opening time shifts.
Luke Severn, recruitment and training specialist at RGIS, said: “We are hoping to hear from hard working people who are looking for a change of direction.”
