A Wearside student is jumping for joy after representing the region in a national contest.
Beth Parodi, a pupil at St Anthony’s Catholic Girls’ Academy, took fifth place in a national school competition.
Emma Lachs, a member of staff at the Thornhill school, said the Year 8 student, did really well.
She said: “Beth was selected to represent Tyne and Wear at the National Sports Hall Athletics Finals, in Manchester due to her outstanding performance in the vertical jump. She finished an amazing fifth in the UK final.
“This is a fantastic achievement and was recognised by Beth receiving an Antonian Award for her commitment and outstanding performance. Everyone at St Anthony’s is extremely proud.”
