SCHOOLS across Wearside are set to shut as teachers take to the picket lines.

The National Union of Teachers, NUT, said there will be a one day national strike on Wednesday, March 26.

The move, which is part of a long-running row over pay, pensions and conditions, will see many schools closed or partially closed.

Union bosses accused education secretary Michael Gove of failing to address teachers’ grievances.

Schools in England and Wales are set to be hit by the stoppage, which will be the third national strike since the NUT balloted members in 2011.
