DECORATORS, builders and joiners of the future are being recruited to a course to help them fulfil their potential.
Durham County Council’s One Point service is inviting parents and carers over 19 and living in the Chester-le-Street area to attend an eight-week multiskills course in Sunderland.
The sessions run for two days a week and to qualify, learners must also be receiving benefits.
Tracey Turner, senior family worker with the council, said: “This is a great opportunity to get some training in a range of skills.
“These include power tool training, manual handling, painting, decorating and joinery.
“Plus, if learners attend all of the sessions, there is the chance to take the Construction Skills Certificate Scheme test.”
The course, held at Pallion, begins next Monday. Free transport is included and leaves Bullion Lane Children’s Centre at 8.45am, returning to the centre at 3.30pm.
This course does not affect Job Seeker’s Allowance and there are opportunities to progress further onto other courses.
