Schoolchildren pick tree from festive forest

Children from Seaham Harbour ventured into a pine tree plantation to select a tree for their nursery. It was quite dark in amongst the trees, but they managed to find the perfect speciman to take back to their nursery as a centre-piece of their Christmas decorations.

A NURSERY team made sure they hunted out the most tree-mendous centrepiece for their Christmas display.

Children from Seaham Harbour Nursery made a visit to a secret forest to help pick which pine tree would be put on show in their school.

Once cut down, the tree was then given a festive look by the youngsters at their Bottle Works Road base.

Headteacher Carole Scott said: “We’ve been doing this for around 20 years and it’s become one of our favourite annual traditions. The children love going to chose the tree and then bringing it back and decorating it.

“It looks beautiful.”
