School holds rebuilding ceremony

A SCHOOL undergoing a rebuild has held a ceremony to mark a milestone in the development.

Durham Trinity School and Sports College is being rebuilt as part of the Priority Schools Building Programme, with the event held to mark the first steel grinders being put in place.

Staff, pupils and governors joined representatives from the Education Funding Agency, Sir Robert McAlpine and Durham County Council for the ceremony.

Durham Trinity School and Sports College is an all age special school based at Aykley Head, on the outskirts of Durham. Julie Rutherford, the school’s headteacher, said: “Staff and pupils at the school are delighted to be chosen for the Priority Schools Building Project and this is an exciting time for all involved.” Work is set to be completed in October.
