A CAMPAIGN to help get kids into school has united children with a Wearside MP.

Youngsters from JFK Primary School are taking part in the Send My Friend To School campaign which calls on world leaders to make sure every child can get an education.

They were joined by Sharon Hodgson, MP for Washington and Sunderland West, to see some of the messages they had written.

Mrs Hodgson said: “The Send My Friend To School campaign is an important way of engaging schoolchildren in the UK with the challenges that still exist for their peers in poorer countries, and gives them the opportunity to make their voices heard within Government.

“I was very proud to see some of the messages that the children from JFK Primary School sent to the Prime Minister last year exhibited in the Palace of Westminster, and I look forward to seeing some of the great Olympic medals that the children were showing me on display later in the year.”
