A SUNDERLAND school is celebrating record results for primary youngsters.
Academy 360 in Pennywell said the Key Stage 2 Sats results were the latest piece of good news for the school.
The Year 6 children at the Portsmouth Road school, which caters for pupils aged four to 16, gained a record high for the school in the Key Stage 2 Sats, with 93 per cent gaining level four or above for reading and 87 per cent gaining the same grades for maths.
Keeley Wood, associate principal for primary education at the school, said: “We are absolutely delighted.
“These are outstanding achievements. It has been a whole team effort from the children, parents and staff who have all worked really hard, and they deserve this success.
“These children have a really good attitude for learning.”
Academy 360 also recently celebrated its executive head, Ken Gibson, being awarded a knighthood in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list for services to education.
Sir Ken said: “My recognition and good news are only as a result of the fabulous people whom I have had the good fortune to work with in education over the past 34 years.
“I have spent the past year as executive headteacher at Academy 360, and I have been very impressed that the vast majority of the students, staff, parents and governors are determined to continue with the tremendous progress of recent times.
“The latest Key Stage 2 results were quite simply outstanding and provide a superb platform on which we can now build. I am very optimistic that the Key Stage 4 results will be the best ever in the school’s history, and I look forward to extending my time at the academy and overseeing further significant improvements.”
He added: “I would like to thank the whole community for their unstinting support over the past months.”
