POLITICALLY-MINDED pupils got a glimpse into the world of European politics at a special event.
Students from across the North East were joined by pupils from 12 other EU nations at the session held in Shotton Hall Banqueting Suites in Peterlee.
The group took on a role-play and discussed ways EU money for education could be allocated to those countries most in need.
Organisers hoped the event would give the 100-plus students an understanding of the difficulty of reaching a consensus between a large number of countries.
MEP Stephen Hughes visited the session to take part in a Question Time-style discussion.
Chris Wolfendale, of The Academy at Shotton Hall, said: “It was a very successful event and students from all over Europe worked together and had a really enjoyable time.”
