YOUNGSTERS at a Wearside nursery are getting a good start to their education.
Ofsted inspectors visited Sunshine Daycare, at Highfield Children’s Centre, and rated it good overall.
A report into the Fordfield Road centre said: “Staff understand how to protect and support the children in their care.
“Children’s behaviour shows that they feel safe in the setting.”
The inspectors said parents contribute to assessments of children’s development and value the support staff provide in order to meet children’s needs.
They said practice is based on a secure knowledge and understanding of how to promote the learning and development of young children, and what they can achieve and the quality of teaching is consistently good.
Sunshine Daycare has been registered since 2007 and operates from within Highfield Community Primary School.
Pennywell Neighbourhood Centre runs the daycare setting through a voluntary committee.
To improve further Sunshine Daycare needs to allow the children to have more experience of exercise and fresh air, create more discussion with children around healthy eating and exercise and increase children’s independent access to water throughout the day.
