SCORES of people got their skates on to learn more about college life.

New College, in Framwellgate Moor, Durham, held a fun open day to show what it had to offer.

Visitors could also enjoy a free temporary ice rink, and Capital FM radio presenter Bodge who gave away prizes including tickets to see Rihanna and The Saturdays at the Metro Radio Arena.

Younger visitors were entertained by professional storytellers from the Seven Stories book centre.

The purpose of the event was to encourage and inspire families in County Durham to learn a new skill and there were taster sessions in subjects throughout the day.
