Durham High School for Girls has been celebrating the fantastic results achieved by its 38 Upper Sixth students this year.
With 21% of all entries being graded at A* and 56% at A*/A, Headmistress Lynne Renwick said the results were the best ever for the single-sex school.
Mrs Renwick said the girls are now heading for universities all over the country, including Oxbridge.
More than a third (37%) achieved all A*/A grades, with several pupils highlight for praise: Hope Anderson, Marie Anderson, Rose Atkinson, Tia Fernandes, Shannon Hamilton, Hannah Kentridge, Ayesha Mahmood, Lauren McMillan, Tamsin Morton, Nicola Tweedy, Kara Ruddock-Ward, Kate Tomlinson, Beth Walters and Jessica Wright.
Mrs Renwick praised all the students and staff for their hard work.
She said, “We are absolutely delighted with these superb results, which are our best to date. All the girls have worked incredibly hard and enthusiastically throughout their time in the Sixth Form and most certainly deserve these stunning results.”
She added: “Staff will be delighted with these results, which are testimony to the enthusiasm and skill of the talented and committed body of staff who once again have drawn the very best out of the girls. Well done to all.”
