The Mayor and Mayoress of Sunderland, Coun Iain Kay and Coun Barbara McClennan, were on hand to welcome people to the park where musical entertainment was provided from some of Sunderland’s finest young musicians.

People relaxed as they were entertained throughout the lunchtime programme with music and dance from Southmoor School’s Steel Pan Band, singers from Washington School and musicians of CoSYJO, City of Sunderland Youth Jazz Orchestra, performing from and around the bandstand.

Coun Kay said: “I was delighted to be invited to go along to welcome everyone to enjoy Music in Mowbray.

“We can all be very proud of the young musical talent we have in Sunderland, and of the hard work being done in our schools to help support and develop it.
