WORKERS searching for a chance to get their foot in the shop door can get an insight into life in retail thanks to a new course.
Starting early in September, as the new academic year begins, Sunderland College will run the sessions for two days a week over a six-week period from 9.30am to 3.30pm for those who want to find a job in a shop. It is aimed at people searching for Christmas or temporary work and will offer students help with lunch, travel and childcare costs.
Paul Stafford, the college’s employer liaison manager, said: “Learners don’t just achieve a qualification – we want them to succeed in their career goals.
“This is why our pre-employment team are all industry professionals who can pass on their many years of experience.
Those who graduate from the course will be given the opportunity to complete workplace first aid and food hygine courses.
