FAMILIES in Sunderland can join in the fun at a children’s centre this weekend.
Sunderland Children’s Centre West - a council run service designed to support parents and their young children – is holding a Family Fun Day on Saturday, June 14, to give parents the opportunity to learn more about the sessions it runs and the facilities it has to offer throughout the year.
The Fun Day, which takes place between 9am and 12noon at Highfield Community Primary School in Ford Estate, will give children the chance to enjoy soft play, outdoor and sensory play activities. They can also play on a smoothie bike, as well as enjoying balloon art and face painting.
Councillor Pat Smith, portfolio holder for Children’s Services, said: “Sunderland Children Centres is a service that makes a real difference to the lives of hundreds of young people in the city.
“Across the five centres, we deliver a whole range of activities and sessions that are designed to help babies and children learn and grow, preparing them for nursery and school.
“The sessions are fun for children, but the great thing about them is that they are completely free and designed by qualified teachers, so there are real benefits to the child.”
The centres, which include West, North, East, Coalfield and Washington, are open six days a week. For more information visit www.sunderlandchildrencentres.co.uk.
