STUDENTS from Cambridge University are coming to Sunderland to encourage people to aim high when choosing their higher education.
Cambridge students who come from the North East will visit St Aidan’s Catholic Academy, St Anthony’s Girls Academy, St Robert of Newminster in Washington and Sunderland College between now and the end of the month to talk to students, parents and teachers.
Aiden Goulden did his A- levels at St Aidan’s and is now studying chemical engineering at Cambridge’s Jesus College.
He said: “The college visiting my school was a strong initiative in persuading me to apply to Cambridge. I know from personal experience just how important it is to encourage others.”
Dr Rutter, admissions tutor for sciences at Jesus College, said “We are committed to encouraging students from all backgrounds to aspire to higher education.
“We hope that the young people of Sunderland who meet our undergraduate students and Schools Liaison Officer will enjoy the opportunity to find out about the University of Cambridge.”
