YOUNGSTERS will take on an a television-style challenge as part of a summer school.
St Aidan’s RC School, in Sunderland, will be holding The Apprentice-type challenge for the youngsters who will be starting the Willow Bank Road secondary in September.
Throughout next week the students will be working in small groups designing, creating and marketing a new dish for the school dinner menu.
The top three groups will take part in the final where they make a presentation to parents and carers and the winning dish will be created with the school chef when term starts.
Gemma Hogg, head of Key Stage Three, said the event will help the pupils make new friends and get used to the school before term begins.
