SOME of the UK’s biggest employers are heading to Sunderland for a specialist conference.
Taking place at the University of Sunderland, the two- day Maintenance Performance Measurement and Management conference will cover areas from engineering concepts, optimisation of equipment and energy efficiency to the impact of the global recession.
Engineering academics and business leaders heading to the event include the Ministry of Defence, Sellafield Nuclear, Nissan and Northumbrian Water.
Regional companies will also be supporting the conference, setting up stalls which promote their products and services in the North East.
Dr David Baglee, project manager and senior lecturer in the University of Sunderland’s faculty of applied sciences, said: “We are delighted to be hosting this highly-specialised conference for the first time in the UK.
“It’s a great chance to network for companies and learn about new research in maintenance and listen to case studies presented by industry and academia.”
The conference takes place on September 12 and 13, at Prospect House, the Sir Tom Cowie Campus at St Peter’s.
