A warning has been issued by police after medication was reported missing from an ambulance.

Officers are warning people of the dangers of taking medication not prescribed to them after the medication was were reported missing from a the paramedics' vehicle parked outside A&E at Sunderland Royal Hospital.

The drugs were reported missing from a bag in the vehicle just after 3:30am today.

Officers are carrying out inquiries to try and trace the medication.

They are also warning of the dangers the medication could pose.

The pack contains a quantity of anti-diabetic medications which could be harmful if taken by anyone who has not been prescribed them.

Anyone who finds the medication should hand it in to police straight away.
