A MOTORIST crashed his car into another vehicle while high on drugs – a day after he was stopped by police for exactly the same offence.
Richard Hudson, 34, smashed his Vauxhall Astra into a stationary vehicle at a red light at the junction of Stockton Road and Seaton Lane, Seaham, on January 11.
Peterlee magistrates were told a roadside breath test proved negative, but a later blood test revealed he had cannabis and amphetamine in his system.
Hudson, of Muncaster Mews, Peterlee, admitted driving while unfit through drugs.
The court heard how Hudson appeared at Darlington Magistrates’ Court last month and admitted the same offence on January 10, when he was banned from driving for 12 months.
The chairman of Peterlee magistrates’ bench, Alan Lawson, disqualified Hudson, banned him from driving for a further 40 months and fined him £100 with £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
