A DRIVER had to be cut free from her car after a crash on Wearside.
Emergency services were called to the scene and firefighters used cutting equipment to remove the roof of the woman’s Vauxhall Corsa after it was involved in a collision with an Alfa Romeo.
The accident happened shortly after noon on Monday in Silksworth Lane, Silksworth.
The woman was taken to Newcastle RVI with spinal and chest injuries.
Paramedics at the scene said her injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
The driver of the Alfa Romeo was uninjured.
