Driver cut free after Houghton car smash

A MAN suffered serious injuries after a two-car crash.

The collision, involving a Honda Civic and Audi A4 took place shortly before 8.30pm last night in Seaham Road, Houghton.

The man, who was driving the Honda Civic, had to be cut free from the car by fire crews, who removed the roof and passenger door.

He suffered serious, but not life threatening injuries, and was taken to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary by paramedics.

A male passenger also travelling in the vehicle was assessed by ambulance personal, but did not need further treatment.

The male and female driver and passenger of the Audio A4 were also checked but did not suffer any injuries.

The ambulance crews from Rainton Bridge, North Moor and Seaham Fire Stations attended the crash.
