DOG lovers and their pets helped raise hundreds of pounds for charity.
About 50 owners and 30 dogs joined a sponsored dog walk round Herrington Country Park.
The five-kilometre walk was one of 10 events taking place in aid of charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
Women’s service charity Soroptimist International Sunderland supported the stroll, which marked the charity’s 30th anniversary.
President Tania Le Marinel said: “We had a really good morning in the sunshine with about 30 dogs and 50 people and so far we’ve raised about £300.”
Hearing Dogs for the Deaf links up specially-trained dogs to assist people with hearing problems.
Money raised from the walk will be used to train hearing dogs which alert deaf adults and children to household sounds and danger signals such as the doorbell, telephone and smoke alarm.
