WHO’S that messing about at Sunderland’s North East Aircraft Museum?

The Tardis dropped Doctor Who off early for Sunday’s Father’s Day science fiction event at the museum.

As well as the Time Lord and his arch-enemies the Daleks and the Cybermen, the museum is set to be invaded by characters from Star Trek and Star Wars.

Project manager Paul Hughes is confident this year will trump last year’s inaugural event.

“We get lots of people from the science fiction world,” he said.

“People had a fantastic experience last year and this time it will be about five times bigger.

“Last year we had Darth Vader judging the fancy dress competition, which was really good fun. This year we are looking for a Doctor Who lookalike to dress up and go round on the day getting his pictures taken with people.

“A fancy dress competition is planned open to adults and kids and we are having face painting, burgers and hot dogs. Most of the staff will be dressed up.

“It’s open to everyone but it’s a great way for the dads to get out and about with the kids.”

The event starts at 10am and will cost £4 for adults with £2 concessions for children.
