ARE you the Golden Girl with the Midas touch?

A beauty salon boss is looking for a Sunderland stunner to strut her stuff as Miss 24 Carat in next year’s Miss England contest.

Jodie Breeds, who runs 24 Carat salon, in Grangetown, has bought the brand licence for the title in the hopes of finding the country’s top beauty queen.

She is now on the hunt for a bevy of beauties to enter the contest and compete in the glittering Miss 24 Carat final, which will take place at the Stadium of Light in March.

Jodie, 25, said: “I want to try and put the North East on the map a bit more. I do hair and beauty competitions all the time through the salon and this is taking it to the next level.

“I’m looking for a naturally pretty girl and there are so many of them out there. You don’t need to have fake hair and lashes to be beautiful.

“I want someone who represents a healthy role model. I was at London Fashion Week recently and you just wanted to give the models a good meal, but the good thing about Miss England is that it celebrates curves and natural beauty.”

The city already has a Miss Sunderland contest, which also takes place this year as normal, but Miss England accepts entrants from all area and “brand” titles.

Jodie said: “I think it’s healthy competition having a Miss 24 Carat and a Miss Sunderland and means there is more chance of a girl from Sunderland winning the Miss England title, which can only be a good thing. A girl with a brand title has just as much chance of winning as a girl with an area title.

“In fact this year’s Miss England winner competed under a brand title, rather than an area. She was Miss Everdaymodel Magazine.”

Jodie is looking for 30 girls, aged 17-24, to be in her final next year which, in keeping with her salon name, will have a glamorous black and gold theme.

The winner on the night will automatically win a place in the Miss England finals next year, as well as a modelling contract with I Am Models and a portfolio with Scott Spock Photography.

Girls can be any height to enter but, in keeping with Miss England entry requirements, can not be married or have children.

Jodie is also looking for businesses to sponsor the individual finalists.
