ANIMAL lovers can lift the lid on Sunderland’s flying mammals at a free bat walk next week.

Visitors can take an evening stroll around Hylton Castle and Hylton Dene with the Durham Wildlife Trust to to discover the animals that emerge during the early hours of darkness.

Warden Maurice Bates said: “We’ll be walking around the castle area looking at the different types of bats that are around.”

The walk will start at Hylton Castle car park, Craigavon Road, Sunderland at 7pm on Tuesday September 10.
