DRIVERS on one of Wearside’s busiest roads will face delays for the next couple of weeks.
Resurfacing work will start on the A690, between West Rainton and Carrville, on Monday.
The works are expected to last for about two weeks.
Motorists are being warned to allow extra time for their journeys.
Queues are expected as the work will involve partial road closes and other traffic management measures.
Diversions will be in place, along with speed limits of between 10mph and 50mph at times.
Durham County Council’s strategic highways manager Dave Wilcox said: “We need to carry out these essential works and will do our best to keep disruption to a minimum.”
