ENTRIES are open for next year’s Sunderland 10k and half marathon.
Organisers of Run Sunderland have confirmed the 2015 events will take place on Sunday May 3.
About 5,000 people are expected to take part in both events, with the Sunderland 10k celebrating its fifth birthday.
We reported earlier this month how the Marathon of the North event will not be returning this year.
The 26.2 mile event was founded by Steve Cram’s Events of the North outfit in 2012 after the success of the popular Sunderland 10k.
The run hit the headlines in 2013 when a marshalling mistake meant all-bar-one runner took an accidental shortcut.
It was later announced the run would not take place in 2014 due to major roadworks in the city centre, and remains off the schedule for 2015.
•”Early bird” entries are now open for the Sunderland 10k and half marathon events, with £2 off until December 31.
