Should porn be automatically blocked from the internet?
WASHINGTON and Sunderland West MP Sharon Hodgson MP has backed a campaign to protect young web surfers from porn.
The Shadow Children’s Minister has written to Communications Minister Ed Vaizey, ahead of a meeting he is scheduled to have with internet service providers today.
She has asked him to put pressure on them to initiate an “opt-in” service for their users, which would filter out pornographic websites unless an adult requested otherwise.
Campaigners claim that this would reduce the risk of young children inadvertently coming across potentially harmful websites.
