How good is the new Sunderland home strip?

SUNDERLAND’S home kit for next season has been revealed.

It goes on sale on May 12 and can be pre-ordered now on the club’s website.

The Umbro design retains Sunderland’s traditional red and white striped shirt, this time with no collar and black trip on the v-neck and sleeves.

The back of the shirt features diagonal chevrons across the shoulder. The black shorts are trimmed with red and the socks are red with white hoops.

Black Cats striker Asamoah Gyan said: “It is a huge honour for me and all of the players to wear the Sunderland shirt.

“I have a huge respect for the shirt and feel incredibly privileged to play for this club. I’m looking forward to wearing the new kit very much.”

SAFC marketing and commercial director Lesley Callaghan said: “Sunderland supporters are fiercely proud of their red and white stripes and we know that the launch of the home shirt is always hotly anticipated.

“The new design is very striking and we are certain that our home kit will be as popular as ever.

“By launching in May we have ensured that supporters will be able to get their new shirt ahead of their summer holiday and we would urge them wherever possible to consider buying their shirts from official club stores as by doing so they will benefit the club and the team directly.”

Fans can pre-order the kit at www.safc.com, by phone on 0871 911 1973 or from club stores at the Stadium of Light and Debenhams, Sunderland, and The Galleries, Washington.
