WITH exactly a year to go until the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games, are you getting excited about it yet?

EVENTS in London today will mark the one-year countdown to the 2012 Olympics.

Tom Daley will make the first dive into the pool at The Aquatics Centre at Olympic Park, Stratford, while International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Jacques Rogge will reveal design of the medals will be unveiled.

London 2012 chairman Lord Coe said the day was a “big moment” for the London 2012 Organising Committee.

Lord Coe added that 23 million ticket applications had been made from two million people, which showed the Games had “higher levels of support one year out than any previous city”.

The opening ceremony of the Games will take place in the Olympic Stadium on the evening of July 27 2012.
