WATER baby Bethany Charlotte Cansfield shot into the world to the shock and delight of her dad who delivered her singlehanded.
Nissan worker Ben, 30, literally kept his newborn daughter’s head above water until the midwife arrived after wife Ruth’s surprise delivery in a birthing pool at their home.
“You’re too late,” was all Ben could say when the midwife arrived.
The couple, who also have a 21-month-old daughter Melissa, raced home from Dalton Park as the contractions became stronger.
Ruth, 30, a physiotherapist, just got back in time before giving birth.
Ben said: “She had another three strong contractions and then all of a sudden she was saying it’s head was coming out.
“Then she had another contraction and the baby came out and I put her on my wife’s chest and she stayed there for about five minutes until the midwife came and clamped the cord.”
