A WOMAN was raped during a 45-minute attack that ended with her being dumped two miles away.

The 25-year-old had been at Ling Sun takeaway, in Vine Place, in the early hours of Saturday morning after a night out with friends.

It is believed she was attacked some time after leaving the city centre Chinese takeaway at 2.30am.

She somehow found herself almost two miles away in Prospect Row, Hendon, 45 minutes later.

Northumbria Police said the woman realised her clothing was in disarray and that she needed help.

The distressed woman knocked on the door of a nearby house and pleaded for help. The police were called.

Detective Sergeant Nicola McAllister, from the Rape Investigations Team, said: “We are carrying out inquiries into this incident and are keen to hear from anyone who might have information.

“The victim was obviously very
distressed by this ordeal and we are
making sure she gets the support
she needs from our specially-trained officers.

“We are treating this as an isolated incident but would urge people to take care when out walking late at night or in the early hours of the morning and never to walk alone.”

The detective said they would like to hear from anyone who was in either of the areas, Vine Place or Prospect Row, at the times or who may have noticed anything suspicious.

Officers are conducting house-to-house enquiries and extra uniformed police are on patrol to reassure residents.

Anyone with information should contact Northumbria Police on 101 ex 69191 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.\
