A WOMAN is in hospital after being hit by a car in Sunderland city centre.
Police were called at 8.42am on Friday July 5 after police received a report that a car had collided with a pedestrian in the road at St Thomas Street in Sunderland city centre.
Officers and an ambulance crewattended and a 25-year-old woman was found to be suffering from a head injury.
She was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital for treatment, her injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
The vehicle involved, a white Volkswagen Golf, initially stopped, but then left the scene and enquiries are being carried out to trace it and the occupants.
