A WOMAN who was knocked down by a car in a village high street has died.
Lorna Jones was taken to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary after the accident in Front Street, Great Lumley, near Chester-le-Street, last Tuesday evening.
The 58-year-old, of Medway, Great Lumley, died in hospital on Saturday.
Ms Jones had just got off the 78A Go Northern bus service when she was involved in a collision with a silver Renault Clio, which had been heading east.
The driver was not hurt in the incident.
