Police investigating the theft of a Poppy collection tin have released CCTV of two men they need to speak to.
The collection for the Royal British Legion was taken just after 5pm on Friday, November 7, at Redz fish and chip shop in Silksworth Lane.
He said: “I just can’t understand people like that. That money is for people who have given their lives for their country.”
Vince Harris, Royal British Legion vice-chairman for Sunderland, said the collection from Redz was always one of the city’s best.
He added: “Anyone who pinches a charity collection tin has to be a low-life.”
A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “Police have released CCTV images of two men they need to speak to who it’s believed may have information which may help with enquiries.”
Anyone who recognises them is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191, quoting reference 818 10/11/14, or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
