THE loved ones of a takeaway manager shot dead outside his family business have opened up about how the murder has hit his doting children.

Mahsum Sultan, 24, who sat alongside his mother Aleya Begum and father Amin Maih as he spoke at a press conference this morning, said they are a “ghost family” who have been left in “total darkness” after Tipu Sultan was killed outside the Herbs & Spice Kitchen.

The attack, in Lake Avenue, South Shields, last Tuesday night, has left the community and his friends and family in Millfield, Sunderland, devastated.

Mahsum revealed how the 32-year-old’s wife Julie, who is too upset to speak about what has happened, regarded her husband as the “love of her life,”

He said dealing the couple’s children, a seven-year-old boy and two-year-old girl, in the aftermath of the death has been one of the hardest things he has ever had to do.

He said: “He was a proud father who picked up his son from school everyday.

If anyone can provide information, come forward. We don’t want any other family to go through what we have been though.

“He took him to the football and wrestling and his daughter was is known as Daddy’s little princess.

“Both children adored their father and would sit at the window waiting for him to arrive home from work and they were so excited to see him.”

Tipu, who had three brothers and three sisters, was the centre of his family and looked after his father and was the person all turned to for help.

Mashum added: “Tipu was a family man who was involved in both communities in Sunderland and South Shields and we’re grateful for all the support we have had from the community and the police.
