A man has been jailed for 17 years after his victim was left with facial injuries following a knife attack.
In September last year, police were called to Princes Street, Shiney Row, after receiving a report of an assault.
Officers attended and a 33-year-old man was found with significant face injuries caused by a knife.
He received hospital treatment for his injuries and Kieran Alan Graham, of Fatfield, Washington was arrested and charged with wounding.
On Monday, June 29, Graham, of Fatfield, Washington was sentenced to 17 years in prison.
Detective Inspector David English, said: “This was a nasty and violent assault on the victim, who was left with significant facial injuries as a result of the attack.
“This conviction sends out a very clear message to people that intend to carry knives and threaten public safety that violent crime will not be tolerated and substantial sentences are given by the courts.
“I’m pleased with the outcome of the court and this violent individual will now spend a considerable amount of time in jail.”
