POLICE are reminding residents to keep their homes secure after a burglary in Washington.
The incident happened at a house in Cleeve Court, Glebe, in Washington, at 2.45am this morning.
The burglar got in through an unlocked back door, but fled after he woke the resident – who found him in their home going through drawers.
A small amount of cash and cigarettes were stolen during the burglary.
A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and is currently in custody helping police with their enquiries.
Officers are carrying out house to house enquiries and are appealing for witnesses.
